Research
Basic and clinical research is critically important for the advancement of all allopathic medical specialties. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than in oncologic subspecialties. The research efforts of Gynecologic Oncologists throughout the world are responsible for the sky-rocketing cure rates now possible in the management of female pelvic malignancies.
All Gynecologic Oncologists are in some way active in research efforts. None of us want to admit five years from now that cure rates in our specialty have stagnated! We want to continue the upward trend in survival and a downward trend in treatment side-effects enjoyed since the 1960s.
Clinical trials allow us to offer appropriate patients advanced treatment modalities that may not be available to the general public for many years. If you do qualify we will discuss your participation in a clinical trial.
